FAC Annual Timeline of Events

Late August / Early September

  • Kick-off event and orientation for all FAC members during the week of university conference.
  • Survey distributed to new and returning members to identify potential issues for the year and gather committee preferences, including interest in committee co-chairing (new members are eligible to serve as chairs).

Fall Semester (September–December)

  • Weekly Meetings: Full FAC, Executive Committee, or subcommittee meetings take place regularly.
  • Initial coordination meeting between the FAC and the AVP Council (usually in October).
  • Committees begin investigating the issues and initiatives identified in the coordination meeting.
  • Committee chairs raise questions in Executive Committee meetings; FAC co-chairs follow up with the AVP Council.
  • Committees engage with relevant campus experts and stakeholders to explore feasible solutions and assess current initiatives.

Winter Semester (January–April)

  • Mid-year coordination meeting between FAC and AVP Council.
  • Committees focus on next steps and begin outlining content for the year-end report.
  • Committee and FAC meetings continue throughout the semester.
  • Mid-February: Any committee proposals that have been agreed upon by the FAC and the AVP Council should be submitted to the FAC secretary to be posted on Teams and discussion of individual proposals scheduled.
  • February-March: full FAC discussion of committee proposals.
  • Late March: co-chair elections; submission of finalized/revised reports, statements, and proposals; full FAC voting on committee proposals.
    • The FAC co-chairs are elected to a two-year term by the FAC as a whole. If a cochair-elect is reaching the end of their term when elected, the extension of their term on the FAC must be approved by their dean and the AVP Council.
    • Committee chairs need to submit their final revised statements and proposals in an end of the year report on their activities at least two weeks before the final coordination meeting with the AVP council.
    • FAC secretary and co-chairs compile report to the AVP council.
  • Early April: end of year FAC banquet, presentation of statements, proposals, and reports to the AVP council.
    • FAC co-chairs will send an electronic copy of the FAC report to the AVPs a few days before the presentation.

Spring & Summer (May–August)

  • No regular meetings, but FAC members may engage online to address emerging issues, provide input on policies, or continue ongoing initiatives as needed.
